Strawberry Kiwi Parfait..Valentine’s Day special

It’s Valentine’s day and Love is in the Air!!!I can feel it. Wishing all of you a very Happy Valentine’s Day … 🙂

The best way to someone’s heart is through their stomach,Right?Ans it’s truly applicable for me.Because my Husband is a big foodie.He loves to eat and I love to cook.Sounds like “Match Made in Heaven”… Perfect Couple,isn’t it??? 😛 Well in that case I have no answer.The only thing which I know is we both Love each other,no matter it’s Valentine’s day or not our love remains same. But since it’s Valentine’s day I decided to surprise him.And I know very well how to do it . 🙂  So decided to try something new.And came up with this dish– “Strawberry kiwi Parfait”—–a sophisticated,healthy and yet easy breakfast option.This parfait can be enjoyed as desert or even you can have it at breakfast or like brunch.And the best part it takes hardly 10 minutes to prepare.

“Parfait” is a desert which is originated in France and it means “perfect” in French. In the french version it’s made by boiling cream, egg, sugar and syrup to create a custard-like puree.But the American Parfait version is bit different,it includes ingredients like granola, nuts, yogurt, liqueurs and gelatin and made in combination whip cream and topped with fruits.

My version is the American one.However I simplified the recipe as per my choice.Instead of Granola I have used Corn flakes.However you can use Granola or muesli as per your preference.I have used Greek yogurt but you can use plain thick yogurt too.You can add some honey over the yogurt if you want bit sweeter version.But as I am allergic to honey I decided to go for sugar.To make the Parfait even more healthier I have added 1 teaspoon of Sabja/basil seed to it.


The recipe is adapted from I have modified it according to my taste.
so lets begin my version of the recipe….

  • Preparation time:10-15miutes
  • Serves: 2


10 strawberries roughly chopped
2 kiwis, sliced in small pieces
2 cups Greek yogurt
1 tspn- Sabja or basil seeds(You can use Chia seeds too)
1 tblspn-whipped cream
½ cup cornflakes(I have udsed kellogg’s special K)
2 tspn-Powdered sugar
Honey (optional, for extra sweetness)


  • Soak the Sabja seeds in water for 2 hours.Stain and keep aside.

  • Chop the strawberry and add powdered sugar and keep aside.

  • Cut the kiwis too.

  • Meanwhile take a bowl and mix the yogurt with whip cream gently.Now add the sabja seeds and mix again.If you don’t want you can skip this.

  • Now take 2 glasses and start layering the dish.I have used red wine glass considering the day.:)
  • Now at the bottom of the glass add cornflakes first then add strawberry,followed by yogurt, kiwi.An repeat the layers.

  • Serve the parfait immateriality.
