Baked Cheese- Corn Samosa

How about Samosas with a Hot Cup of Tea on a  rainy day?Sounds perfect isn’t it???
This is the baked  version of traditional samosa.It’s tasty and  much healthier than  the fried version.
It’s an established fact that Baked Food is much more healthier than fried one. Oil is a saturated fat and therefore it’s  high in calories.However, baking does not add any additional calories and that’s why I always prefer baked over fried food.It just about the caloric amount and fat content. Consuming more oils can spoil our immune system and promote obesity and other disease.But yes once in while we can indulge fried food also.  🙂
Monsoon and Rain means fried roadside/street food.May be because of the weather we all wants to eat fried food and I am no exception.But this time considering the health factor I choose to bake my samsoas rather than frying.The samosa is filled with fresh corn and cheese which is spiced with simple spices like black pepper corn,chilli flacks and salt.It’s quite simple and easy  to prepare except shaping them.(shaping them into samosa it’s bit tricky).You might be wondering that I am talking about health factor but using cheese..Now coming to caloric count Chedder cheese is much low in calorie and 25gms of cheese contains about 100.75 calorie (for 10  samosa).
Calorie count:
68.8 calories in 80 grams of Sweet Corn
100.75  calories in 25 grams cheddar cheese
546 calories in 150  grams of White Flour
40 calories in 1 teaspoon olive oil
Total 755.55 calories for 10 samosa
75.55  Calories per serving(1 samosa) of baked samosa
So if you are on diet also you can enjoy 2 samsoa as snack without any guilt.Now lets talk about the recipe..
Ingredients:(For 10 mini samosa)
For Kneading Dough:
Refined flour – 1 cup/150gms
Salt – 1/4 tsp
Sugar – 1/2 tsp
Oil- 1 tsp
In a bowl Add flour, salt, sugar,and oil and mix well.
With the help of lukewarm water, knead soft dough.
Grease the dough with little oil. Cover the dough with cling wrap/muslin cloth  and keep it aside for 2 hours.
For The Stuffing:
1 cup boiled sweet corn kernels (makai ke dane)
1/3 cup(25 gms) grated cheddar cheese
1/2 tsp black peppercorns (kalimirch)
1/2 tsp red chilli flacks
salt to taste
Mix sweet corn, cheese .
Add pepper powder, green chilli flacks and salt.
Mix well all the ingredients.
I used fresh sweet corn, you can use frozen too.If its fresh then just thaw and boil it for few mins, thats enough.
For Making Samosa:
Divide the dough into four equal portions and roll them into balls.
Then roll them into oval-shaped rotis(5 -6 inch diameter).
Cut them in half and dampen the edges with water.
Shape each half into a cone and stuff it with the corn-cheese  filling.
Seal the edges well.
 Preheat the oven at at 180°C  for 2-3 minutes.
Grease the baking tray with little oil or line baking sheet in the tray.

Arrange the samosas in the tray.

Brush the tops of the samosas with little oil.
Bake the samosas for 30- 35 minutes at 180 degrees C, until it’s became little golden and crispy,
Serve this delicious snack with green chutney or tomato ketchup and hot tea.
